I was always into beauty since I was a little girl. Suffering from mild acne (it was the end of the word at that time) as a young teenager, I would hunt for makeup products to hide all my blemishes. I would wake up 2 hours earlier just so I could have my hair freshly done and cake on 10 lbs of makeup. (which I no longer do, thank god lol) Then I went to a technical highschool and my first choice was medical believe it or not. Second choice was Cosmetology and thats where they put me!
Cosmetology has so much more substance than most people think. People think all we do is hair , makeup & nails all day. We had to learn the different layers of skin, bones, all this anatomy, nail & skin diseases which I can hardly remember anymore even though I just graduated 2 years ago.
The class was full of catty backstabbing girls and I would have none of that. So I isolated myself and focused on my talent. Outside of cosmetology school I would take advanced classes and became certified in airbrush makeup! (I never asked for a dime from my parents, I paid for all my advanced education myself. They didn’t support me being a cosmetologist.)
Next blog will be about my first salon! Stay tuned…
